Xpansiv kicked off IPO talks last year with a $2 billion odd valuation , during what would later turn out to be a torrid year for IPOs. It tried gaining support for a listing by slashing its valuation to $1.2-$1.3 billion during IPO talks organised by Barrenjoey, Shaw and Partners and UBS. But by May end, it had pivoted to vetting private equity proposals with US-based advisers, which ended with Blackstone’s US$400 million entry in July. The PE firm had the option to convert all or some of its investment into Xpansiv shares at a US$1.4 billion post-money valuation, which – if it were to play out – would make Blackstone a significant Xpansiv shareholder.
